ReBook Charity Bookfair

Hey readers, first and foremost, we truly apologize for the inefficiency of our capability to keep this blog in tip-top shape. (I personally find it bit confusing and bit tricky to update)

But anyway, here's the review on the most recent Joint Project, ReBook Charity Bookfair.

Organizing Chairperson: Leo Tham Zhi Juin (Secretary, Leo Club of SMK USJ 8)

Asst. Organizing Chairperson: Leo April Tho (Asst. Funding Dir., Leo Club of SMK SJ)

And our very own, Khoo Suk Chyi! As the Organizing Secretary.
*Sadly there isn't a picture of her that was taken on that day.

Anyway, this is the report as prepared by her.

On the 17th, 18th and 19th December 2010, a fundraising project jointly organized by Leo Club of SMK USJ 8, SMK Subang Jaya, SMK USJ 4, SMK Subang Utama, SMK La Salle PJ and SM Sri KL, named Joint Rebook Charity Book Fair was held from ten o’clock in the morning till ten o’clock at night at Subang Parade.

In conjunction with World Aids Day which was on the 1st December, this project is organized to raise fund for the World Aids Foundation besides strengthening the bonds among Leos from different clubs. In addition, this project is organized to promote 4Rs which are Rethink, Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. People nowadays are fond of throwing unwanted books away yet most of the books were being read only once, contributing to the production of waste, leading to deforestation in order to have more lands to act as landfills. Thinking of this, the Organizing Chairperson of Joint Rebook Charity Book Fair, Leo Tham Zhi Juin came up with the idea of having a theme for the project– Rebook.

District Chairperson for Leo Clubs – Lion Alan Thoo, who has always been stressing on the importance of preserving and conserving our Mother Nature, together with the President of the Lions Club of Subang Jaya – Lion Dato’ Neo, who was invited as the Guest of Honour, the Regional Committee Chairperson for Regions 6 and 7 – Lion Nicholas Seow and the Lion Advisor of Leo Club of SMK USJ 8 – Lion Yong have launched the opening ceremony of the Joint Rebook Charity Book Fair on the 17th December 2010 at three o’clock in the afternoon.

The project was a success, having an amount of RM2203.00 raised for The World Aids Foundation within three days. We are sure that the objectives of the project have achieved not only through the amount of fund raised, but the ties among participants that have been strengthened, the awareness on 4Rs being built through the theme – Rebook among public and most of all, all the 35 participants learnt about teamwork and responsibility while they were having their shifts. We learnt to be punctual for shifts, to take the responsibility complete our task when we were given a task and to understand the importance of teamwork as united, we stand, divided, we fall.

Yada-yada-yada, words words words, just let the pictures show how a great pleasure was it working with the many Leos we have met before.
